Oxford English Dictionary (OED)   The online version of the Oxford English Dictionary (OED) offers access to the wealth of material contained in the 20-volume print edition of the OED and its 3-volume Additions Series, and has been integrated with the Historical Thesaurus of the OED. The OED Online allows you to display entries according to your needs, that is, you can turn pronunciation, dating, etymologies, variant spellings, and quotations on and off. Also allows you to compare revised entries with entries from the Second Edition to see how the language has changed.

Oxford Dictionary of National Biography Overview: The Dictionary offers concise, up-to-date biographies written by named, specialist authors. The Oxford DNB was first published in 2004 in print (60 vols.) and online. Since 2005 online updates have extended the Dictionary’s coverage in three annual updates, published every January, May, and September. The Oxford DNB now includes biographies of more than 58,600 men and women who died in or before the year 2009—plus 504 ‘Theme’ articles for reference and research. WorldCat FirstSearch   WorldCat is an extremely large, collaborative catalog of books, videos, journals, dissertations, and other material worldwide. It contains all the records cataloged by almost 27,000 libraries, archives, and museums in 86 countries and offers over 41,000,000 bibliographic records. Interlibrary loans can be placed directly through WorldCat. It is updated daily and run by OCLC. It does not contain articles from periodicals.  

Serials Directory   Overview: Provides access to the most up-to-date and accurate bibliographic information as well as current pricing structures for popular serials. This database contains nearly 250,000 U.S. and international titles, including newspapers and data from nearly 108, 235 publishers worldwide including internet and email addresses. Government Finance Statistics   Overview: Government Finance Statistics is supported by the International Monetary Fund (IMF) Data eLibrary. It contains data analysis on the financial crisis, development, globalization and related subjects. You search by country, topic or data source and you can build your own query by using multiple datasets. Topics include governmental data and statistics on economic and business issues. OECD National Accounts Statistics   Overview: Includes data for national account statistics, public sector debt, central government debt and financial accounts. OECD Social and Welfare Statistics Overview: This database has been developed in order to serve a growing need for indicators of social policy. NLM Gateway Overview: As of December 2011, NLM Gateway only provides access to two databases: Meeting Abstracts and Health Services Research Projects in Progress (HSRProj). Academic Search Premier This multi-disciplinary database provides full text for more than 8500 journals, including full text for more than 4600 peer-reviewed titles. PDF backfiles to 1975 or further are available for well over one hundred journals, and searchable cited references are provided for 1,000 titles.

ProQuest ProQuest's multiple databases provide citations, abstracts and often the complete text of magazine, journal and newspaper articles. Some databases are general (that is, covering all topics) but are aimed at different audiences. Some databases are specialized (by subject) so are able to provide more depth of coverage about the subject.

World DataBank Overview: Annual compilation of data on global development from the World Bank. Search by country, topic and World Development Indicators (WDI) in English, French, Arabic and Chinese. Multiple datasets are included, as well as access to World Bank publications and the Data Catalog. Scope: Worldwide.

Dates: 2002 to present, however older materials may have been retroactively scanned if they fit into the general collection. PAIS International Overview:PAIS (the Public Affairs Information Service) database contains information on global policy and social issues. Citations and abstracts are listed for periodicals, books, hearings, reports, and other publications from 120 countries. Dates: 1972 to present. Scope: Worldwide.
